Are Coluxor tilt and turn windows Passivhaus certified?
While our tilt and turn windows are not officially Passivhaus certified, they can be specified to meet the stringent criteria required for ultra-low energy buildings. By incorporating high-performance, krypton-filled triple glazing which features a center-of-glass U-value from 0.5 W/m²K, we can optimize the entire unit to achieve an exceptional overall Uw-value as low as 0.8 W/m²K. What is the inward clearance when the window is tilted?
When placed in the ventilation position, the window sash adjusts to fixed openings of either 80mm or 140mm. The internal gearing automatically holds the frame completely stable at these points, providing reliable, hands-free airflow without requiring any secondary restrictors or manual props.
Can the window swing completely open into the room?
Yes, when using the turn setting, the moving window frame swings inward to a full 90-degree angle. This creates a completely unobstructed opening that ensures a safe, compliant emergency exit route while making it incredibly straightforward to wash the outside glass from indoors.
How is temperature regulated with expansive glass panels?
To manage thermal comfort, Coluxor units feature advanced soft-coat, low-emissivity double or triple glazing. Filled with insulating argon or krypton gas, our standard glass configuration maintains a balanced G-value of 0.56. Where is the ironmongery positioned on the window?
As standard, the operating handle is located centrally along the vertical profile (the stile) of the opening leaf. To accommodate lifetime homes standards or specific design requirements, we can also configure the gearing to position the handle lower down the frame, ensuring comfortable reach and effortless accessibility.
